The Kindle Paperwhite that Amazon introduced on 16 October 2024 is the 12th generation of the line, and it was the best-selling e-reader on Amazon US when we retrieved the chart in September 2026. It moved to a 7-inch screen, kept the 300 pixels per inch density, added a higher-contrast display and USB-C, and raised the price of the base model.
This is a research-based editorial assessment. Nobody on our team has used this unit. The specifications come from Amazon's launch announcement, retailer listings and the detailed spec summaries published at launch, and the observations come from two independent reviewers who did use it. Readers torn between Amazon and Kobo should read our comparison of the Kobo Clara BW and Clara Colour alongside this review, because the choice between the two turns mostly on stores and formats.
